Why not cast white actors for white roles?

You can argue that most anime characters' ethnicity are not clearly stated, but in FMA there are clear racial distinction between characters. Characters like Edward, Alphonse, Winry, and Alex Louis Armstrong are clearly white characters while Ling Yao and his retainers are obviously chinese. This isn't even the case of anime character designs looking slightly Caucasian and having Japanese names, they are white characters with western names.

Yeah since the main characters in the cartoon clearly look European, the others from the middle east, xing = more Chinese.

The movie will be garbage anyway like all the other times they try to do a live action of anime.

Cause casting white actors playing Japanese characters would be racist, even though most of the characters look European

So if I, as a white male, would write a story about a black man and a Japanese woman, and it would be developed into a movie it would somehow be less racist to cast white leads than colored ones because I, the original creator, am white? That makes no sense whatsoever. Unless you come from the school of 'creators can only make characters of their own ethnicity' which is more racist than any recent casting decisions.

Because this movie is made BY and FOR Japanese people, while their population is homogeneous and you will never find a caucasian actor that could speak and act Japanese.

At the opposite, Hollywood movies are made by Americans (mostly) but the intended audience is worldwide. Plus, you can easily find colored actors for playing colored roles. Its stupid to Hollywood to cast white actor as colored role and then use CGI for it (exemple Ghost in the Shell)

aww, the irony of people talking about no white actors. I literally couldn't care less about there being no white actors in this movie.

Who cares? It's a Japanese production so the actors will be Japanese. Ghost in the Shell is Hollywood production so the actors are American. Who gives a crap? It doesn't really matter. Things that ruin movies are bad directing, script and acting, not ethnicity of the actors.
