Canceled after season 1?

I enjoyed the first season but read somewhere that there will be no second season. It's one of the things that I hate about being a fan of certain tv-shows. It's not the first time that a tv-show is canceled after one (or more seasons). I a lot of those cases they don't even wrap up the storyline. As is the case with section zero. season one ends with some cliffhangers,... so in the end I feel like I invested a lot of time for nothing. It's like buying a book, reading it halfway and then throwing it away. A shame really. It feels like the industrie has zero respect for fans who are loyal to their show.
