If I were a teenager, I would probably think this was awesome.

But as someone who is pushing 40, I found it kind of boring and silly. The death of the baseball kid was fairly disturbing, though.

it was disturbing but i thought showing him walking home alone from the game along the cornfield seemed seemed hokey, like hey, remember field of dreams. i wouldn't think he would just be walking along the side of a dangerous country road alone after a game, though i guess it happens.

I liked it, it has grown on me over the years. I have said it before, it’s best viewed as it’s own story and not a direct sequel to the Shining.

Great acting by Ewan and the little girl with powers. Also the deaths are brutal in this movie.

I have not read the book but I like this movie and I like The Shining.

Wasn't exactly boring but I'd agree that this has more of a decent, almost 80s horror flick - I'm thinking Lost Boys - feel to it, which would appeal to teenagers, rather than an outright classic like The Shining was.

I agree. The fact that they showed them killing the baseball kid really pissed me off. It was a bit much. They should have left it to the imagination. We all knew they were feeding off the kids. No one needs to see that kind of crap. During that scene all I could think of was that there are sick bastards who really enjoy killing kids in real life. So, I don't want to see that in a movie. It took me out of the movie, and back into the sick twisted world that we live in. So, in my mind the director has some severe issues, and so did the rest of the people who worked on the film. No one had the balls to tell him that he's a sick bastard?! That's pretty spineless of the cast and crew if you ask me. Hell, even Stephen King said that that scene was going too far.

lol what is wrong with everyone in this thread.

edit: oh, no one here actually read the books. either of them.

I'm quite a few years older than you, and I expected to hate this movie. But I was surprised at how good it was, I really enjoyed it. Maybe when you get a little older you'll grow up.
