Rob Kenner & Eric Schlosser on bringing little-known story back to life

The director and author who first teamed on "Food Inc." talk about how they discovered the Damascus accident in Arkansas and filming in the Green Valley Missile Silo in Arizona to recreate the Titan II crisis, as well as the process of adaptation, the rare chance for the documentarian to play with explosives and bringing the subject of nuclear weapons back to the surface considering the thousands that America still has at the ready:

It is so interesting hearing how the socket was dropped by a rookie technician. Makes for great Hollywood, but is not even close to what actually happened. Going by what I have seen in the trailer, I did not see anything that was factual, except for the MSSA gauge going up to the 50 reading. It sure is interesting that I have not seen anyone mentioned that was actually there, except for one crew member. Looks like someone with an agenda to get rid of nukes.

The book was utterly riveting, particularly go a guy like me, who was a SAC air crew member at the time of this incident. I'm looking forward to seeing this - if I can find a theater that will play it (or when it's available streaming)

It was on PBS American Experience tonight. Interesting because I had never heard of that incident before.

I watched the doc. Very informative. Ialso just discovered that the incident was the subject of the 1988 TV movie: "Disaster at Silo 7"

Does it compare and contrast with the Soviet near nuke attack of 1983?
