I must have missed something. So the killer in 1983 was the biology teacher? And he killed the chemistry teacher and several students because they knew some sort of secret? What secret exactly?

The killer was stealing from the chemistry classroom.
And he thought the chemistry teacher knew about it and wanted to get rid of her and the students in her class. They might know also.

At the end fight the killer explains his motives.
