how does he have all that money?

It would be one thing if they said that he received a large inheritance or something, but how long has he not worked now, and he thinks the world is ending in 8 months (meaning, he has enough money to last him that long), AND his bucket list includes extensive travel.

How do you watch shows if real-life stuff like that doesn't even occur to you? Do you apply any standards to them at all?

He did mention running up all his credit cards since he wouldn't have to pay them.
