Palm trees in Seattle

...because that happens.

With so many other CW shows filming in Vancouver BC where it could easily sub for Seattle it's just weird that they'd attempt to pull it off filming in Los Angeles.

Anyway though the show is a bit better than I thought it was going to be. Just looking at sun and palm trees with the Space needle keyed in behind it keeps throwing me off.

Yeah, and how do they see the space needle no matter where they are in the city?

It's just like in any show set in Washington you can see the Capitol dome from every window. In any show set in San Francisco you can see Coit Tower or one of the bridges from everywhere and all the streets have cable cars. If it's Los Angeles you can see the Hollywood sign no matter where you are.

Seattle doesn't have the tall palm trees they get in California, but there are actually quite a few palm trees that are maybe 15 feet tall.

I haven't seen any palm trees in Seattle anywhere! Possibly where it gets hotter in Washington State there may be some. But yeah, it looks nothing like Seattle. It never does.

Do you live in Seattle? Hm, I could take some pictures. I think I have some somewhere...

I went my whole life without seeing palm trees in Seattle. Then, maybe 10 years ago, one was brought to my attention, and now I see them everywhere. I guess that's how it is in life.

Like I mentioned, they're not huge, maybe 15' tall at the most, some are smaller, but they're palms/palm family. There's a book that I want to buy that talks about it, "Palms Won't Grow Here and Other Myths: Warm-Climate Plants for Cooler Areas". But it's pretty expensive.

I do live in Seattle and I'd love to know where said palm tree is here! But as to the show, yeah you could tell it was California.

I just did a quick google about palm trees in Seattle out of curiosity, and found this blog post about Alki beach a from couple years ago. It talks about palm trees that were planted there that are going to reach 35' in height. I haven't been to Alki for a while, so I haven't seen them yet.
