How can this show last more than one season?

Its OK and all. Its not exactly bad. But the whole premise is the world is ending in eight months according to its own timeline. Either it will be several seasons taking place really, really slowly or there is no end of the world at all which makes the premise pointless.

World isn't actually ending.

I think the real question is how can it NOT, if the show is successful (which it isn't, so the point is moot).

1: 8 months in their world doesn't have to equal 8 months in ours.

2: Turns out THAT space rock misses us, but the increased attention on the matter has found another space rock, and this one really IS headed right for us. Clock reset!

3: He's just flat out wrong, and in 8.5 months nothing happens, but by then the main character's outlook on life has changed and she decides she needs to 'keep living' instead of going back to her boring old way of life.

4: Space rock misses us, but that heart thing flares up again and can't be corrected this time. Now SHE'S the one with a death clock, and takes over the Xavier role, who is now depressed because he was wrong, and she has to bring him out of it.

This is just off the top of my head, and my job is not on the line. Trust me, if the show actually takes off and they need to find a way to continue, they will, and it will take them about 10 minutes. That's if they are in the bathroom for the first 9.

I guess it could work that way. Still the original premise is that Earth itself will be destroyed on less than a year, so they believe they have nothing to lose and just enjoy the time they have left. Shifting that to the chick having a deadly medical condition and the guy depressed that he got the Apocalypse wrong and ruined his life by spending the last year of his life being wreckless sounds rather depressing for whats meant to be a quirky comedy.

I think the point of the show is living like the world is ending. That doesn't have to change even when it doesn't. Evie is super uptight and will become more open as time goes on, Xavier is too carefree and hopefully will become more structured as time goes on. Xavier might even give up on his apocalypse theory before the date it's supposed to happen (or at least I'm guessing he won't take it so seriously)

The world probably isn't really ending, and Xavier will have to learn to live with that. I don't think that's depressing at all because the show will have been building his maturity for a while at that point. It's a rom-com so Evie will help him through it. If the show gets renewed I'm sure the writers could come up with some quirky situations about him trying to survive in the real world again.

Yes, you got it. Anybody remember the pastor predicting the world was going to end on May 21, 2011 and when it didn't happen, he suggested October 21. The point is an idea like that makes people do crazy things. I am watching Ep 3 It is even funnier than pilot. I am sure it just started warming up.

Your forgetting the best one in that the space rock hits the earth and doesn't destroy it but messes up the earth so they have to live in a walking dead senerio. Post apacolypic, or last man on earth

I am enjoying the show; however I hope Xavier is correct. I hope the asteroid does exist and is coming towards earth and nothing in that can

If they do go for a second season, I hope they asteroid is stopped by something incredible and unbelievable....dues ex machina .... aliens.... multiverse parallel universe superheros destroying it...

I hope it is one season and the season ends with the asteroid hitting earth and ending everything. 

Stay single and happy my friends
