Nice show but unwatchable subplot....

The subplot with the boss (Amy Pietz, kind of MILFy hot in a subtle way, lusting over the short, fat, dumpy unattractive guy is just idiotic!

Makes me cringe

reply

That's actually in tone of whole show - absurd.

This is why I stopped watching the show. Couldn't get past how cringe-worthy it was.

reply

I know right? Frankly the whole series is unwatchable save for how insanely hot Tori Anderson is.

The cougar boss lusting after the fat, schluby black guy doesn't bother me. That's actually quirky and off-beat which is the tone this show is going for.

For me its the subplot with the loser Asian guy. Its terrible.

reply

Her annoying ex? Yeah, he gets on my nerves, too.

I'm actually starting to root for her boss and the coworker, and I *hated* the boss initially. Go figure. The subplot amuses me since there's mutual attraction there and he's just fighting it.

I like her ex more than the office relationship.

He's so adorable I just wanna take him home and feed him.

@TepasTeacher:

Why is it "idiotic" just because the two don't fit your idea of a couple that's "right" for each other in terms of appearance only? You do know that in real life, a lot of couples don't look anything like these picture-perfect supermodel types? And sometimes what people in general find attractive in real life dosen't always mesh up with what society says we should find attractive. In this article, a bunch of average-looking folks say there are some actual benefits to not being what society thinks of as attractive, or whatever the current definition of being "hot" is:

That being said, just watched this show for the first time and liked how surprisingly positive it was, given the premise. The lead actress's snarky co-worker is hilarious,so far. Also, didn't recognize Amy Pietz as the boss----I remember her as being one of my favorite characters on the show CAROLINE IN THE CITY---a hit '90s sitcom, and the much later ALIENS IN AMERICA---she still looks good, btw. v

You've made very good points. I totally agree with you. This show projects everyday people with upbeat message.

Well, in the universe of the show, she's not MILFy. Physically she is good looking, but her person is outwardly dry and emotionless(with bad breath) to the point that no one even notices including Hank. The scene where she approaches him at the restroom door is perfect. She has a great body that they show off as she walks toward the door. Her breasts are pretty much in his face, and he doesn't even flinch or even remotely notice her. There's great potential with that story. Whole show is kind of set up to wrap things up neatly if they don't make it past a season including this plot.

I'll buy the two stars, some. I'm not really buying it. It's been on for 4 or 6 weeks, and I still don't know where it's going. And that's not a good thing. I like the snarky lady. I really dislike everyone else on the show. 'Show stoppers' - also not in a good way.
It's a disappointment for Amy Pietz. She's way too creepy. And the whiny ex. ACK!!!

If you like the snarky lady, please watch tonight's episode.

I hope she dies.
