That animation.....

Is crazy realistic! It's amazing how computers can really bring people and objects to life! Wow!

I thought the same thing but with all of that, they still can't get the mouths right. The people looks so real but then when they talk it feels like you are watching a movie with voiceovers. (because we are)

I believe it's done to Japanese and en dubbed English.

At least they attempted this time to match the lips with the English dialog, we didn't even get that jn AC.

It's the same with dubbed movies, even dubbed over English, when there's a real person whose dialogue is being spoken by a voice actor. I had a hard time with it too until I realized it's not a flaw of the animation but the inherent nature of VO. When a person speaks their facial expressions including gestures and tiny twitches follow the flow of their speech. When another person speaks for them that all gets lost. In this movie they came close to giving the characters all the minutia of human dialogue, but those aren't the ones that happen right at the moment the voice actors deliver the dialogue so there will always be a mismatch.

Avatar got it right almost ten years ago; mo-cap actors would deliver their dialogue and record their expressions on one mobile rig, giving great authenticity to the performances.

Nothing like having voice actors in a cushy studio droning their lines.

Those giraffes you sold me, they won't mate. You sold me queer giraffes.
