James Norton?

Having just watched this, is he even in this?
Was he one of the toy soldiers in the pre-title sequence?
If so his 30 seconds of screen time hardly merits top billing.

reply

I think this is an IMDb anomaly. I don't think Norton was mentioned in the inital on-screen titles. He just appears in the final cast list... but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Call me Ishmael...

IMDb usually lists the cast in the order of appearance. 

The Duke of Wellington is the one in the red uniform with the white cockade and does indeed look like James Norton. But it isn't.

Norton's credited, alfa. 

I noticed. But it's not him. And it's not really the Duke of Wellington, either.

I gave in and went to Specsavers for my latest varifocals. Worst pair of glasses I've ever had.

Wellington looked like this when he was fighting Napoleon http://keyassets.timeincuk.net/inspirewp/live/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2015/06/Duke-of-Wellington.jpg, though I suppose he looked like he does in the film in Charlotte Bronte's time and it still doesn't look like Norton to me, even with the glasses. Perhaps they gave him a little touch of the airbrush out of courtesy, having reduced him to the role of an insignificant extra.

Lol!

Apropos of nothing, my husband and I spent a very nice weekend in a Petworth B&B owned by a descendent of the 1st Duke of Wellington's brother Gerald. Lovely lady. Made a delicious breakfast.

Before leaving for Belgium, in 1815, he headquartered here in our valley and officers were billeted in our house.
