For your consideration: EMILY BLUNT in THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

I would normally say, "Great." I love him. However, adding a black soldier to the mix would completely change the dynamics/focus of the story for the time period, which is supposed to have a feminist edge to it.

Exactly ,my thoughts.It would add a racial dynamic which this movie shouldn't be gunning for.

If its set in the present time then I'd say yes. But if it sticks to the Civil War period then probably not.
