Reminds me of The Killing.

The Killing made a point of it always raining so perhaps the sense that it is always winter here gives a similar vibe. Fortitude also made use of the environment as a character, as did Twin Peaks with those creepy Pac NW woods.

It made me think of Fargo; the snow of course, but even more the kind of suspense-like/creepy (what the Germans call "unheimlich") feel.
In contrary to what is stated in one of the reviews, I like the slow pace of this series.

It definitely has 'The Killing' vibe.

yeah, it has that real world kind of vibe to it. plus billy campbell and his incessant whispering.
