The premise of this makes no sense

Every time I see a commercial for this show, I scratch my head. If you're set to be the ruler of a magical kingdom, why would you choose to come to our world and be an ordinary person with no power or magic? I think the choice would be pretty obvious there!

Um...wanting to escape from all the pressure and responsibilities? Just putting that out there. I'm sure that premise and rationale have been done before and for Nick/Disney shows and movies no less.

I know at my last job, they wanted me to be in a leadership position and be the boss of all these people, but I knew it wasn't for me, too much stress, too many hours, etc. And I knew they'd always want me to be someone I'm not and never appreciate me for the strengths I did bring to the table, so I had to choose to be brave and walk away for the sake of my health. People were pressuring me all my life like that to the point of abuse, and I got that job straight out of college so I never really had the chance to enjoy my youth like other kids, so I can't tell you how good it feels to finally be free :-)

Sorry to get all personal there lol But yeah, power and prestige aren't everything. I'm sure for royalty its much the same with all the demands (though on a larger scale, of course!). Same with child movie stars. I bet a lot of them missed their childhood, too, which is why they end up rebelling, partying, etc. I have a lot of sympathy and empathy for them. Everyone's different - not everyone has that Type A, super ambitious, driven, workaholic personality. But maybe the reason in the show is completely different. Maybe I'm way off base, as I'm surely older than the show's demographic lol Maybe its for a boy. Could be anything.

All I know is I plan to watch at least the pilot, as Torri Webster is a beauty (or just beauty if you're Canadian) :-) She's the reason I'm here. Been seeing commercials for this show on Nick, was looking up Torri on here just now, seeing if she's done anything since Life With Boys, and - Boom. Looks like I found out she'll be in this show just in time :-) Recurring cast, not main, but still. Though this isn't on her Wiki page yet (checked that and was all discouraged before I came here lol), so someone needs to update that.

Huh, I never really thought about it like that. I just saw someone in a magical world living in a cool place give it up to be a high schooler. I never considered the other side of her position and the stress it might cause. Thanks for enlightening me!

Or to be a little bit more concise:

"The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." Even for supernatural royalty, I guess.

It makes perfect sense if you're a young teenager who thinks the human world is cooler that her world of magic. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

She wants to explore the human world?

She wants to have fun and sow hee wild oats.?
