What the heck happens to this film in the end?

I mean the film was no masterpiece up until then, but it seems to completely fall apart in the last 15 or so minutes. All of a sudden Grenier just magically fins Johnathon Schaech's character who he has been looking for the last hour or so. I love how he hands Schaech's character a handgun only for the next scene to be Schaech's character tip-toeing around the hallway barehanded and engaging an armed thug with his barehands. It gets even better when the dynamic brotherly duo go and confront the mobster king and his henchmen and just say *beep* it to finding the other brother's daughter and just shoot everyone to pieces without even asking where the girl might be. All is not lost, though, because in the next scene everyone is happy once again the family is reunited and the drug addict mother and daughter have mended their ways much like Schaech's character has magically mended his bulletholes and signs of physical violence.
