Boy, she is really ambitious for that Oscar isn't she?

Maybe she is having sex for these roles? She will also play Queen Elizabeth I, and looks terrible doing it.

reply

I think this film is not going to go over very well.

reply

Me neither. And why is the styling SO UGLY?? Same with the new Ridley Scott movie, it seems all biopics now have horrible roadkill hair and godawful clothes.

reply

What you're saying is true enough, LetThemEatCake. Hollywood has so run out of creative ideas that most everything they're putting out these days looks cheap, ugly, and tacky.

reply

it truly is over.

reply

I read a review of "I, Tonya". It seems like a rather awful film, that kind of glorifies Tonya Harding, and the horrific incident that resulted in a potentially crippling physical injury to a rival competitor. If I were the real-life Tonya Harding, I'd be so ashamed of myself for not only having been involved in the masterminding and planning of the attack on Nancy Kerrigan (something Tonya still denies to this day.) (Not that Nancy Kerrigan's exactly a sweetheart, either.), but knowingly obstructed the investigation and prosecution of Gillhooly and his henchmen, that I wouldn't want anybody making a movie out of my story. I saw the trailer online, and the whole thing sounds disgusting.

reply

agreed.

reply

All fake news

reply

The styling is ugly because this film is about trashy people living in the 80s and 90s.

Believe me, ugly is authentic!

reply

I know very well how Tonya Harding looked, the styling in this film is mediocre and horrifically done. Unfortunately that is not something unique, every single biopic of the last horrific 15 years has had the worse clothes, the worst styling, the worst and most unnatural wigs. Even now, look at All The Money In The World, how horrific Michelle Williams looks, what the hell happened to talent in Hollywood? And it's kinda unfortunate because they win these Oscars and the films look godawful and cheap.

reply

I, too know how Tonya Harding looked, in real life. She often looked rather cheap, wore too much lipstick that was too intense a color, and excessive amounts of make-up, plus her costumes were cheap, full of sequins, etc, and the fact that her breasts and her bottom were often somewhat exposed was kind of disgusting. Tonya Harding really did make herself cheap, which was part of the reason that she got the reputation as being trashy.

reply

no reason for the hair to look fake in this movie and everything to look fake and third rate.

reply

I agree, LetThemEatCake (844). The hair looked very fake in the trailer of "I, Tonya", but that's kind of how Tonya's hair looked in real life, too. Hollywood often wants to blow things way out of proportion, exaggerates and makes things cheap, if one gets the drift.

reply

It's a recent phenomena with all biopics, don't know why.

reply

A good part of it has to do a great deal with the fact that stuff, including movies these days, have become so commercialized. Commercialism also has a great deal to do with it.

reply

I don't know why it is but everything has gone to shit, I feel so disconnected. I'm only 35 and I can't relate to anything, everything is shit, specially film yet everyone pretends it is so great.

reply

That's why it would be a good idea for more of the great, golden oldie-but-keeper classics to be re-released into more of the movie theatres, which is beginning to happen.

A good part of the reason that both film and live theatre have gone so far downhill and become so commercialized is because many of today's young actors/actresses are not unionized, are poorly paid, and have not had the chance to really hone their craft.

Secondly, the excessive graphicness, gratuitous violence and length of style (if one can call it that with a straight face!), and shortness of substance, not to mention the boorishness and inconsiderate and constant use of cellphones for texting/talking during movies on the part of a lot of audience members, as well as many movie theatres not being kept clean, not to mention the availability of big-assed home theatre systems and blu-ray DVD films, have also helped undercut the movie business.

There are still people (myself included) who still prefer going to a movie theatre to sitting home and watching a good movie on TV. Having memberships at the 2 independent movie theatres in my area has also helped, as well.

reply

I agree.

reply

Thank you, LetThemEatCake (868).

reply

Makes you want to swear off current movies entirely. You go first !

reply

To put it somewhat differently, ugly is considered authentic these days.

reply

Tonya Harding's skating costumes were quite cheap and tacky, in real life, plus they exposed her breasts and her bottom, to boot. Her hair was often sort of cheap, especially her bangs, plus she wore much too much lipstick (which was too intense a color for her) and eye-make-up.

reply

Wow, you really are big on criticizing this woman over her style and appearance. Keep it going ! Who cares if she came from working class roots while Nancy had her rich patrician parents buying everything.

reply

You're dead shit-assed wrong here, snepts! First of all, I don't give a rat's ass about Tonya Harding's class background and/or appearance. The fact is that Tonya Harding got involved in masterminding and planning of an incident that resulted in physical injury and the forced removal of a rival figure skater from competition, and that is more than enough for condemning somebody as a person.

Secondly, Nancy Kerrigan did NOT come from wealth, either. On the contrary, Nancy Kerrigan also came from a working-class blue-collar family.

In the third place, Nancy's father was a welder who worked three jobs to pay for his daughter's skating lessons, and the mother (who's now a widow, due to the fact that her father was murdered by her brother, during a drunken brawl) was a stay-at-home housewife who is legally blind.

reply

You REALLY don't approve of ambition, do you?

How odd.

reply

I guess when it comes from charlatans and useless whores, I do have a problem.

reply

Oh you mean anyone who's more successful than you are, or getting laid more?

reply

Not at all, and she's more successful than you so don't brag about achievements not your own.

reply

Thats exactly what she means
You nailed it Otter!
cake is a genuinely unpleasant lady who starts every post with an insult and then onjects when anyone replies
A real waste of time that one
Be well Otter youve been cool to me

reply

Disgusting that you suggest a well known fine young lady does smutty things for work...im deeply offended madam!
You should be ashamed of yourself lady:(
You are a gross female...shame!

reply

Shogun: I'm curious; Which "well-known, fine young lady" are you referring to?

reply

Eh...private and silly joke between my friend Cake and i
She lets me have it at every chance she gets
I think the dear girl has me on ignore now
Shame really...i seem to be her favorite 'fanboy' lol
I miss her and wish her well

reply

She hates herself

reply

Robbie has her own production company and helped to get this film made. This is the second actress you're accused of being a "whore"-----apparently you got some serious screwed-up deep-seated issues of your own with women, and just want to take them out on any famous actress----funny how you don't do this at all with any male actors. You need to get your own stuff together before whining about what the hell somebody else does.

reply

Cake seems to treat her opinions as facts.
