What kind of psychiatrist....possible spoilers

I don't know a single psychiatrist who would go to their ex-patient's house after they called and said they took too many pills. No one does that! Any real life psychiatrist would call an ambulance. I also don't know any psychiatrist that would even think of treating patients in their home.

Plenty of psychiatrists treat people in their home.

Not where I'm from. And they absolutely would not go to a patient's home for an overdose instead of calling an ambulance

reply

Lots of them do.

My biggest issue is that psychiatrists don't do talk therapy. They analyze and diagnose, then prescribe appropriate medication. They're not therapists, they're doctors. Very clinical. Someone is usually referred to a psychiatrist once their therapist deems medication necessary as part of theither treatment. Psychiartists are there for meds, not to talk about their issues in detail. Biggest flaw in the movie for me. Someone didn't do their research.

Just because where you are from psychiatrists don't practice at home that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Lots of them practice at home.

I thought the same thing. That is very unethical. The appropriate way to handle that situation is to call 911. A good therapist sets boundaries with her clients. She did not set boundaries with Alex. Of course, that was the least of my problems with this horrible movie.
