Johnny Gill: Stacy Lattisaw's Mother Said He Was Too Dark Skin For Her?

In the mini-series Johnny's character alludes to this particular in a conversation with Ralph's character. Stacy denies this. Is this another example of creative artistic expression on behalf of the producers? Or did it really go down like like between Johnny & Stacy?

Hopefully they (Johnny/Stacy) will put an end to all the speculation and let us know what the truth is concerning this allegation made in the NE mini-series. That being said Johnny & Stacy made some classic music together 'Perfect Combination' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6GhZUg5D5E in the early to mid 1980s.

Lol, I heard that about 10 years ago that he was living with Eddie Murphy. I don't think that's ever been true though. I still didn't hear him say Stacie's mom didn't want him dating him cuz he was dark. I watched the movie three times already. He said she said he'd be bad for her career (even though he's had/has more of a successful career than she does and yeah I've never seen him with a dark skin woman, so maybe he has his own issues with skin complexion within the black race. His child's mom is some Hispanic woman. I've always thought he was nice looking except sometimes he makes ugly faces when he sings like in NE heartbreak. The cutest to me had always been Ralph though.

Oh, it is true. He was living w/Eddie during the times Eddie was with Mel B and Tracy Edmonds. Some even say he was living w/Eddie during the Nicole era.

I've always thought he was nice looking except sometimes he makes ugly faces when he sings like in NE heartbreak.

He makes those ugly faces, because he oversings. I was never a Johnny fan, and the one time I saw him sing w/Stacy, I could tell he was trying to outperform her. It was a duet, and it came off bad, even though there was vocal ability.

This is something I didn't know.

Johnny: My one and only regret is that Isaiah's mother and I were never together in a relationship.

Okay. . . I never knew he had a popsicle baby.

Haha Johnny always annoyed me, to be honest. I actually found myself liking movie Johnny more. He was actually quite handsome, and his singing wasn't as overbearing.

Well, I never seen Johnnny Gill with a dark skin girl.. I guess he does the same paper bag test that he says Stacy's mom does 😂

and I never heard of Stacy till now.. where was I in the 80's... I thought I knew a lot of them.. The song let me be my angel I only knew it of Tiffany Evans..

I gotta ask you east side vixen.... how old are you? If you are the age of liking NE- and the candy girl/popcorn love era, you GOTTA know Stacy!÷ She and Johnny were known before NE, and they played let me be your angel, live on a two way street and perfect combination to death on urban radio. But, as I listen to 80s music, there are songs I don't recall or artist I can't remember. But Stacy HAD MORE than just 15 minutes of fame. Then again, I thought the same as Ralph "that fiNE redbone Stacy!"

I was born 1980 on the dot. I never heard any songs of her and/or Johnny before NE. I use to go over to my grandmother house as a kid and she had records going way back and I never seen a album or song by her. I never even seen her face before. But I took the time to do so over the last couple of days and listen and wow her voice was beautiful.. very soft and strong. And when Tiffany Evans came out with her version I still never looked up the original.. because I thought it was an original at the time 😊.. By the time I really knew who New Edition was I had to been at least 7 or so which was 87..

Stacy & Johnny were a big time act in the early to mid 1980s. Their duets album was full of good music. Plus Johnny had some nice songs with his solo stuff to.

Never heard of Stacey? Unless you were very young at the time how could you have missed her? They played that let me be your angel song plus she performed on Soul Train, American Bandstand and she visited Amy Carter at the White House. She was all over the place.

The song was released the year I was born ..😔 .. but hey I heard many songs of the 70's and 60's way before I was born.. not sure why I never heard her music .. but luckily its still around for me to hear😊

Johnny & Stacy were all over black radio and tv programs in the early 1980s. I knew who Johnny & Stacy were almost just as long as I have known who NE were.
