Random thoughts.

Strengths: Brenda Strong as the interfering Mother. The veteran actress managed to make her character super-annoying and out of line without making her so obnoxious you couldn't forgive her. (I do wish she had suffered a bit more before being forgiven by her daughter.)
I loved the character of the father. Trusted his wife even when confronted with a compromising photograph. How refreshing.
The doctor love interest: Super nice guy and very handsome. What a Catch! I liked the actor very much.
I liked the subplot of the struggling bakery and the anticipated restaurant critic. It would have been nice to have a little side romance for her male partner.

Weaknesses: The character of the girl. Although I actually understood her anger with her Mom and even with the Doc, In real life, she should have forgiven her boyfriend sooner and her Mom should have suffered more. No way would any normal woman come close to breaking up with such a great guy. He was actually probably too good for her. Mom never really did change much.
The actress was actually pretty good. Although she sometimes talked from the back of her throat, I liked the little quirky touches especially her nervous hopping around when she thought the restaurant critic was in the house.

So often the Hallmarks are poorly written in that they create conflict out of nothing and the characters are super silly and stupid. There was a bit of that in this one, but not to point of the TV screen being a target for my remote.

Not so much "random thoughts", more like a well structured review of the movie rebekahrox....

One thing I liked with this movie was that the characters were quite believable, and there was some gentle humour without it being over the top.

thanks! the other thing I liked was that doctor he was dating who took him for granted really got her comeuppance! loved that he was straight with her and didn't hem and haw and sent her on her way. so often, when confronted by their apologetic exes, the h/h will be too nice and won't pull the trigger on the final break up so they don't hurt their feelings which results in all sorts of stupidity.

I thought the resemblance between the mother and daughter was amazing.

Cute movie, better than many Hallmark movies. Now if Hallmark would stop with the annoying on screen ads.

Yeah. Looks like it as well.

"How do you get over what's meant to be?" Truth is, you don't. Love is one of the six Prime Elements of Universe you don't fight against, as is Element Fate. They always have their ways, especially love; there's no prediction to its blindsides, inbound vector or offence strength, and after Love finds its marks it will render all defences useless, leaving their targets with no choice but to give up and give in to their hearts, surrender and submit... and the results of it, has always been beautiful. Sure, this particular pair could have been induced by the mom, but if the mom's moving in the same direction as Elements Fate and Love, if they will it, there's no point fighting against it. Whatever will happen, will happen.

Love these movies, always focuses on regular average people, and nothing too high-end. Yet I - personally - find the on-screen ads very useful - often display the dates of new movie premieres. Much more informative and useful than commercial ads; I make my calendar notes based on those.

Nicely written comments, rebekahrox. Wife and I are consistent Hallmark movie viewers, and we don't find the movies "poorly written" most of the time. Maybe our standards are lower 😉- we like the content and the escape into a fantasy world so close to our own but with much simpler problems.

I wanted to voice my total and utter agreement with you re: "talking from the back of the throat." Waaaay too many younger actresses and women generally these days do that -- maybe they believe it lowers the pitch to sound more serious or more relaxed. But it is a classic misuse of the voice. Listen to the great movie and radio actresses pre 1960 -- you will hear well modulated, properly pitched feminine vocal melodies. That gravelly sound women these days employ is unattractive and off putting, I think.
