Monalisa question

I don't know if I missed a part in last nights episode, but why did monalisa feel like the inmate that came back betray her? I was super confused about her feeling betrayed by that inmate.

reply

I came here to ask the same question.
Stephanie was her name. She came back and all of a sudden Monalisa had some huge epiphany and realized how she's been manipulated, and I was so lost. Something about the guards losing some paperwork and a check from the bank having been tampered with... but how was that Stephanie's fault?

It may not have been her fault but they couldn't let her go if the check was false.

reply

Yeah I understand that, but I don't get why this made Monalisa realize she can't trust Stephanie and felt betrayed.

reply

She felt betrayed because she believed her. About everything. She believed her, she bonded with her, she opened herself up to her, she allowed herself to care for her and she came to think of herself as a bit of a mentor/mother to her. She was going on and on about how much she really likes and connects with her, basically all but stopping short of saying they would be for real friends or at least acquaintances on the outside. She later went on and on to the camera about how upset she was for losing her best friend, her most trusted confidant in here. And then Steph comes back.

Stephanie's whole personality, her rap, and friendship is/was an act. She's a scam artist who lies and manipulates people for her own selfish gain. And Monalisa bought into it hook, line and sinker. If you're old enough to remember those old Bugs Bunny cartoons, there was always a time when one of them would all of a sudden realize they had been conned, and they would briefly turn into a Sucker or Donkey. Well, her being confused with the clerical error excuse was Monalisa's donkey moment.

But the bounced check or whatever it was, how was it Stephanie's fault? I guess that's the part that I'm still not getting. She's locked up and not in control of anything. So how did she betray anyone? So because a friend or family member of hers wrote a bad check to try bailing her out, that means she has been manipulating Monalisa this whole time? Stephanie seemed just as confused and pissed about the whole situation as everyone else. I feel stupid, but I'm still not connecting the dots lol

reply

I imagine Stephanie was probably in cahoots with the person forging the check or knew about it or had something to do with it etc.
The thing is how did Minalisa find out it was for a forged check because Stephanie came in and gave a different excuse of the prison losing paperwork and stuff like that so how did Mondalisa find out it was for a forged check?
And don't worry they do have to prove that Stephanie was behind the forged check in order to get in trouble for it but doesn't mean she didn't know what was going on.

Sorry for such a late response but I was rereading the thread and your post stuck out to me so I wanted to reply.

I am still a bit unconvinced that Monalisa was betrayed. I absolutly agree with what you said about the reasons WHY she would feel that way since she did seem to have had a nice friendship going. My opinion though is that Monalisa probably felt more gulible than betrayed. She had to admit to herself that it was a lie (on Stephanies behalf..ML probably really did like her) and she fell for it. It would be easier for ML to tell herself and others it was betrayal since admitting she was gullible would make her look bad.
I hope that made sense..lol

I can't die! I have 43 twitter followers that depend on me! oh, and I have a daughter.

reply

Monalisa said her daughter used to pull the same type of things on her. I think Monalisa was blind to what her daughter was doing to her (manipulating her) and when she saw it from another person, she realized how she's been taken by her daughter. I think Monalisa's blinders were finally pulled from her eyes with Stephanie.

and yes, Stephanie's check was fake. I think it was Maple Syrup or the other ding dong said that the check had been altered. They had questions about the check and after examining it, they realized it was altered.

Yeah, but just with Stephanie. She still thinks her little cupcake is all that and a bag of chips. Not once has she mentioned that her daughter deserves to be in jail for armed robbery, just that she feels oh so sorry for her, because she has to go through that every day. Yes, because of the life she chose.

You have to realize that that's her child. Most parents will do anything for their child.

I don't think she thinks her child is a cupcake anymore. She's realized her daughter is in jail because of what she's done. What I think people forget is that those people are criminals and are in jail for their crimes.

I personally don't think they should get three hots and cot. They need to bring back the chain gangs for prisoner and those in jail.

And those criminals need to stop complaining about the condition they are in. In the words of Jim Carey from Liar, Liar, "Stop breaking the law *beep*

Exactly! Lounging around inside all day, doing nothing and fighting, or doing drugs is no punishment.

For sure! you did the crime, you do the time!

I'd wager that 9 out 10 of the people in jail/prison are fronting. I wouldn't open up to or trust a single one of them. They're all looking for SOMETHING in return.
