So it all hinges on this scene...

Let's imagine that when he was leaving her house to go see his Son, and she says 'get yourself some water so you don't get dehydrated' - that he took his bag with him. She would not have been able to steal his tablet. 'Oh damn - I guess all that time I invested in this counter-con was wasted.'
He gets to keep his money.

Such a weak premise for the whole movie to revolve on.

He would definitely never leave that bag out of his sight, because you expect the world to treat you as you treat it.
And he sure as hell wouldn't have ridden that whole time on the train without looking at it, and not realizing until hours later.

Her taking the tablet was only critical in terms of making it necessary for him to come back. She could still have transferred the funds while he was making his way to the train.

reply

No - If he took his bag to the bathroom in the house, and guarded it at all times (like a good con-man would) she would have never had an opportunity to steal his tablet.

reply

I don't think you understood. Stealing the tablet is no big deal. She could still steal the money with her own tablet.

reply

I don't think so

reply

Well, either watch the movie again so you understand it or persist in ignorance.

I don't think so

She didn't take his tablet so she could steal his money. They both had the same password and both had access to the account, and yes she could have done it all from her own tablet.

But if he had his tablet, he could have undone whatever she did. She took his tablet so that was cut off and couldn't do anything with the money, and would be forced to come back and face her.

reply

He couldn't have transferred money back from whatever private account she transferred it to...
