It wasn't fair of Madison to make him choose between family and acting

Acting was Kevin's dream. She knew what she was getting into with Kevin. So if she's gonna say with him, she'd have to deal with the lifestyle of being married to an actor and that it means traveling. It was wrong of her to make him choose. But of course, he'll end up quitting acting to be there for the family. Pretty cliched. You can have both.

Yes, he can have both. And he was perfectly justified in leaving filming when she went into labor. What kind of a director monster would say he can’t do that?
They are just creating this for dramatic conflict.

reply

This is true. He seems like a "television actor" with a one hit series behind his belt.

Even his scenes could have wound up on the editing room floor.

reply

True, and there have to be clauses in movie contracts for family emergency leave. And seriously what else does Robert DiNero have going on that he couldn’t hang out in Vancouver a few more days?

reply

Also— if DeNiro found out that the director was such a dick that he fired a guy for leaving for the birth of his children, how likely would he want to work with that director?

reply

No he was NOT justified. He would have been justified had he given prior notice that his wife was going into labor. Then they would have reworked the shooting schedule. But to walk off set moments before shooting a scene in the most unprofessional thing you can do. But you seem to not understand how the film business works.

The scheduling is grueling. You hear stories about how actors miss weddings, births of children, ect....this is 100% on Kevin. Not the monster director

reply

Literally all they need to do is have a conversation and agree how much time per year he can be away. Of course, they want to drag the drama out for 4 more years, so the characters will never do that.

reply

Some actors choose to stay in television (i.e. The Nanny), so they don't have to travel for movies.

reply

Yes, it is a similar reason for some performers to choose to have an “Artist-in-residency” gig in Vegas instead of touring. Being in one place gives them more of a semblance of a normal life for their families.

Shield Up as I am TRIGGERED

They can pull this crap because they have money.
Trust me, when your broke you see your dad when you can because he has to work a lot of shifts to make sure you live comfortable. And when you see him the love for each other is just the same.

It wasn't fair for the showrunner to put his wife front and center into the show without any breadcrumbs to it. Nepotism with a splash of retconning. Though I agree with the post.

I think he's going to end up with Sophie. You know from flash-forwards that he's married at the end.
