Randall’s therapist

Glad he fired her. Didn’t like her. Just hope his new therapist doesn’t turn out to be his long lost biological mother. I might have to stop watching if that happens. This surprise twist at the end of the season premiere is the kind of cheesy soap opera plot twist that belongs back in the 1980s with Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, etc.

Agreed. I stopped watching the season 5 premiere before the end- I just couldn’t do another musical montage. I didn’t make the connection that the two story threads could merge. I also hope not but I don’t think there’s anywhere else they can logically go. There’s only one living character who MIGHT know Randall’s birth mother survived (Rebecca) and I doubt she has the mental capacity to tell Randall about it. I think Randall’s real problem is the same as Kevin though: they both need to stop trying to live up to Jack.

reply

I don't think Rebecca knew. She only met William twice and it seems that he thought Laurel was died until the end of his life.

lol. That would be hilarious. I never even thought of that. Then it would 100% be a soap opera.

reply

Randall's the rapist. That explains everything.

reply

I never noticed that "therapist" breaks down to "the rapist", wow!

Psychologists should've come up with a new word for that long ago!

reply

People didn’t start to refer to “Therapist” by that word until the last 40 years. People used to say “Psychologist” or “Psychiatrist.”

reply

Probably people couldn't remember the difference between "psychologist" and "psychiatrist", so the single word "therapist" took their place. It sounds more "therapeutic" too, and less like you're ill.

reply

Also, the term now includes social workers (MSW) with therapeutic training.

reply

I think it's a sure bet that she will be his long lost mother. The show is predictable and Randall firing his therapist, his mother still being alive.

Yep, you called it.
