Feels like a ‘80s/90s show

Yeah a little bit, I guess. But in a good way, I think, though I'm biased because I'm nostalgic for almost everything about the 90s, personally.

Also some of the story does take place in probably the 90's if I'm not mistaken.

Could be because Ken Olin, who starred in "Thirtysomething", is an exec producer of this show (and was a producer on 'Brothers & Sisters' from 2006-11, as well). He knows how to bring tear-jerker family dramas to the television screen.
