This show is emotionally draining and depressing.

I completed season 1 and have abandoned the show somewhere in season 2.

It is one of the most emotionally draining and depressing shows I think I have ever watched. It just keeps the knocks coming.

It is by no means a bad show, in fact the acting is top notch for the most part. My only complaint is that is is a very "heavy" show. Between all the various issues the show deals with (cancer, obesity, alcoholism, adoption etc) it is going to leave you feeling exhausted, I almost guarantee it.

I read somewhere someone describe 12 Years a Slave in words that echo how I feel about this show, that it is good and it is definitely an experience, but I never want to watch it again as it is absolutely tiring to get through, especially emotionally.

Exactly! It's well written and acting is top notch indeed. But you defined well: it is emotionally draining. That's how I feel when wathing it. I think I relate too much my life and past events with what goes on the show. I hesitate to start watching every season because I know How I'll feel, but once I start I can't leave it.

“The acting is top notch”?! Watch Counterpart, which has movie actors, then watch this broadcast network TV show, with TV actors, then reconsider.

Didn't even know Counterpart existed. Will definitely give it a watch. Just looking at the cast I can see it is worth watching. Thanks.

I’ve only very recently encountered you as a poster, but, from what I have seen of you, I think you might be flabbergasted by Counterpart. I love film noire sci-fi, eg, Blade Runner, Dark City. Counterpart, in contradiction to Netflix series, STAYS GREAT through ts two season run. The writing and the acting (especially) stay memorable beyond the experience. I hope that you enjoy.

I don’t know for sure if you like action sequences. If you do, watch on-demand the Cinemax series, Banshee. It has the most dazzling and brutal fight sequences I have ever seen. Also, realistic. Brutal isn’t glamorous.
