Auto tuned??

Anyone else think that Kate's Time After Time was auto tuned? I'm pretty sure...

reply

No. Sounded like good natural singing to me.

reply

What makes you so sure?

reply

I've heard regular singing and auto tuned singing?? Maybe go back and listen to it again. It's mostly heard in the note progressions.

reply

I could hear it during the note progressions. I thought it was weird.

reply

Thank you! Haha I'm not crazy!

reply

I doubt she was auto tuned, although I could imagine the actress who plays Kate, Chrissy Metz, could've been a bit nervous singing on a show that also includes Mandy Moore. lol

Given that Mandy's original claim to fame was as a teenage popstar in the late 90s-early 2000s, as a contemporary of Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera, (and back when Chrissy would've been barely out of her teens herself) it had to have been a bit intimidating for Chrissy to sing on the show, though she did do a good job.

reply

True, I can see that being the case also.
I wasn't implying that she wasn't good, only that the voice was slightly perfected by a computer. Hah

reply

I thought she sounded different from when we heard her sing in the bathroom at the beginning of the episode. I immediately noticed that something was off during her performance, I definitely suspected Auto Tune. I wish we could know for sure.

reply

Her lip movement was a bit out of sync at the very end of it.

reply

Seemed like once she got comfortable, the singing started sounding like polished studio quality.

reply

I've used Auto Tune and it sure sounded like the effects of being aggressively auto tuned

reply

Thank you! Haha. The first few responses had me questioning my musical ear. *gasp*

reply

I think there was some work done on the song as her mouth didn't quite match up a few times.

But Chrissy did sound good and I enjoyed hearing her sing.
