What movie was Emma Thompson in

She was so terrible in this, it was kind of shocking. There wasn't a minute of her performance where I wasn't aware she was ACTING! That in and of itself is bad enough, but to put that performance up against everyone else in the film who were very low key and naturalistic, it made her stand out even more.

Why would the director either A- let her get away with this, or B- Direct her this way

And Hoffman must be really old because in his heyday, he would have stepped in and fixed it for them.
