"Black Donald" McDuck

According to "The Missing Links of Moorshire", May 18, 2018, an ancestor, "Black Donald" McDuck, invented the game of Golf but got so angry when he lost that King James banned the game.

There were Scottish kings named James from 1406 to 1542, and from 1567 to 1625, and from 1685-1688. but the first six were between one and fifteen years old when they became kings, so there were usually regencies at the beginnings of their reigns.

According to Wikipedia:

"Sir Donald McDuck, nicknamed "Black Donald" because of his foul temper, is said to have invented golf, hammer throw, and caber toss in 1440. His temper while playing golf resulted in James II of Scotland outlawing the sport. Black Donald is mentioned in "The History of the Clan McDuck" by Don Rosa."

Of course fans of J.R.R. Tolkien know that golf was actually invented by a hobbit thousands of years before "Black Donald".

It seems that golf was forbidden by an act of Parliament in the reign of James II in 1457 because men and boys were wasting time playing golf instead of practicing archery for military purposes.
