Japanese Culture

Do Japanese teenagers really act like this or is this just some fantasy teenage stuff? Because this is ridiculous...

I have the same question. I feel like Nao is such a pushover. American shows don't have a lot of room to talk but I just wish she would stand up for herself.
I'm also confused about the school system and the whole "top three" thing. Why does it seem Uehara is more popular than Daichi but Daichi is older? I have a lot of questions and cannot tell if it's a cultural issue, plot holes or information being lost in translation.

The top three are made up of the hottest boy in each of the three classes - (Years 10, 11 and 12, or whatever comprises high school in Japan). They're both the hottest guy in their respective classes, hence two of the top three. Just because Daichi is the oldest doesn't mean he's necessarily the most popular of the top three, or considered the hottest.

This is a comedy show, you might as well ask if "The Inbetweeners" is an accurate portrayal of the english education system.
