cancelled

I think Jeffrey Donovan is awesome but this series felt mediocre.
It had plenty of ok actors in it but the writing felt lackluster.

Besides, I prefer for the lead to be a bit more tougher than the character Jeffrey played here. If not tougher, then perhaps more clever - yet there wasn't much of that here either.

All in all, I think it's a good thing this mediocre series got shut down. Having said that - I do think it's crappy that Hulu also cancelled 'Chance' - cause that series was actually pretty decent.

Yeah, a more elmore-leonardesque character would be preferable here.
'Get Shorty' looks more promising for that matter.

This show had some cool ideas that weren't really capitalized on. Exploring a sort of mafia story with gypsy culture was pretty cool. And the notion of a con man having real psychic visions is also pretty cool. Both the ideas were abandoned in the second season. Which really left it with not much to say. I don't know if the budget wasn't there, or they already knew they weren't renewed and didn't care, or if it was simply too difficult to write. But the stars certainly never aligned for this project. Donovan's main character was for sure too wishy washy. He's presented as this resourceful guy with a shady background who's going to put all his skills together to get one over on all the bad guys trying to put the screws to him. Pretty traditional hero for a crime fiction story. Then they just let all the air out of that balloon and he just gets used by everybody. There's just too much that didn't work.
