Bright 2 is Happening !

Despite receiving not so hot reviews from several critics, Netflix just released a teaser, confirming that Bright 2 is very much happening. This is historic for Netflix because with Bright 2 the streaming juggernaut will officially get its first ever movie franchise.

Netflix is expected to make Bright 2 with the same winning combination of Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and director David Ayer, who is going to write this sequel as well.

Wow, just who do they think is going to watch it? Certainly not anyone who's seen the first movie.

Even though I was not overly impressed by the first film (can’t quite put my finger on what exactly, but it just didn’t work for me) I would watch the second one because I want to see what else they can do and where else any story will go.
I think I needed a bit more back story and mythology (what prophecy were they referring to?!). I think I needed more rounded supporting characters (the elf FBI dude just annoyed me and everyone seemed so one dimensional and typecast).
I can see what they were trying to do and they get points for that and they worked hard on the effects and the make-up etc which were great.....but....it didn’t do it for me.....which is a shame because I should have really liked it.

Is it?

Just so happened to get the urge to watch this for the nth time tonight and noticed IMDb has a Bright 2 page (tt7820302) that's status states "treatment outline" as of April 12, 2022, but the last entry on its trivia page states NF cancelled it in April 2022. Taking deep, controlled breaths rn. The only thing that could surpass this would be a Dredd sequel.

cancelled it is

I'm sure you're aware they did an anime prequel, Bright: Samurai Soul (2021) which I found just bad. I'm sorry I saw it, frankly.

Interesting - I wasn't aware. I bet they could do a better job developing the story if they did a whole season.
