Way better than what I expected

By no means a perfect movie, for a straight to DVD kind of production it was enjoyable, it sets the world with a little exposition but with enough suspense and lore to keep the franchise alive for at least a couple more movies.

Didn't like how some of the characters where handled (some of the bad guys) but for a crazy idea like mixing real modern world with mythical creatures it does a good work.

Will Smith and Joel Edgerton did a solid work, a better script could have made this movie really stellar but even with its problems it definitely deserves a watch.

Agreed, this is a fair mini-review. I liked it also, but could've used a bit more polish. Hopefully we'll see that in the sequel.

(You know of a perfect movie?)

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Never been a Will Smith fan, but the movie itself was interesting enough. I think there's to be a sequel. Looking forward to it.

I enjoyed it as well despite the bad reviews almost dissuading me.
Not a perfect movie and I felt it started a bit slow but once it got going I was into it till the end. Who knows I may even watch it again just to fully take it all in.

Will Smith did a good job I felt but I was more impressed with the Joel dude in this movie. As he had to convey emotion through all that make up crap and he did a good job doing so.

The world in this movie could have been fleshed out a bit more but I saw enough there to have my interest pricked. What the hell happened in this world 200 years ago I found myself asking.

A solid 6/10

I didn't know who the actor playing Jakoby was until I looked it up, I new I recognized his voice. He really killed the character, imo, better than Will Smith.

reply

Yea I just checked too, I remember him now from Warriors and from his small roles in the Star Wars prequels as uncle Owen.

reply

I'm a big fan of the Great Gatsby which he's in.

I liked it too. Not sure why all the hate. I didn't go in expecting a masterpiece. I enjoyed it for what it was. A rainy evening Netflix movie.

reply

I liked the idea of modern LOTR, never considered that possibility before tbh.

It was a perfectly alright film. I was suspicious about the almost unanimous negative reaction from critics and after seeing it I suspected even further that there must be some politics behind that. It was a perfectly okay movie with a risky but interesting premise that mostly worked.

Wasn't a bad film. Probably didn't need as many f-bombs as it had, and the tiny bits of nudity didn't do anything to add to the movie's success. That being said, I really enjoyed the premise. Was Mandy Patinkin the orc policeman, or am I getting by buddy cop movies mixed up?

reply

It has its share of stupidity but was better than I expected and I liked the chemistry between the two main characters.
