So why not just get rid of Rittenhouse before he's born?

Of course we know why, because then the show would be over in one episode. But they have a time machine, they have technology. They can look up when and to who Rittenhouse was born to, and either do like Wyatt and make it so his parents never hooked up, or...just kill his parents. But waiting until the guy is older, when he's alredy corrupted the minds of people, will do no good. As it already showed, killing him when he's older does nothing. So why not go back further to before he was ever even born, and wipe out his bloodline or prevent him being born in the first place?

I'm watching this show again, after only watching the first 3 episodes when the show began (lost interest before but then all this crazy "save Timeless" stuff got me interested in the show again, after it was surprisingly renewed), and it's getting a bit annoying now. I mean going to all these different periods in time is cool, but it becomes a bit ridiculous when everyone knows how Rittenhouse started and by who....so why not just eliminate him from ever existing? Then everything would be undone. And Lucy's whole "save history" thing is a bit annoying when she knows how horrible Rittenhouse is, and how they've murdered dozens even hundreds of people. I mean, you have a chance to change history, make things better....why not do it? Lincoln for instance could have been saved, had Lucy opened her mouth earlier, told his son about the plot or done anything else. The number of lives that would be saved and changed by saving him.

I don't know, part of me finds this show interesting, but irritating at the same time.

The whole idea that killing a child is wrong because he hasn't become a monster yet is ridiculous. Lost did the same thing when Kate talked everyone out of killing Ben, just days before he would betray and murder dozens of people.

It is a bit ridiculous. It's the same logic as, if you had the chance to kill Hitler, would you? Would him being a child really stop you, even though you KNOW the atrocities he would commit as an adult? It's ridiculous. Him being a child doesn't change the fact of what he turns into.

But considering they have a time machine, why not just go back to before he was ever even born, and just take out his parents? Or make it so they never meet. All they have to do is alter one day, because if his parents never hooked up on that one day, he wouldn't have been conceived. If he was conceived on a different day, he would probably be a completely different person. But really why take the chance? I'd just wipe out his parents, or stop them from ever meeting. They've already killed people, so they have no qualms about murdering someone. Yeah it would suck to kill someone who's innocent, but then that would Un-do all the other murders. I'm sure history would change in a huge way, but well....history is changing anyway on this show. They're doing a pretty piss-poor job of "saving history", and Lucy is really the only one who remembers a lot of these little facts. And why not change history for the better? She could have saved Lincoln, and changed the lives of so many people, and she didn't. Even her changing her mind at the last minute....she could have done it sooner and made sure Lincoln was never even in the building. This show is just beyond frustrating, especially with Lucy's whole "we can't change anything" crap. I can see why people stopped watching, hell I was even one of them. I stopped watching after 3 episodes. Saving the show for another season won't stop it from getting cancelled again next year.

It's Prime Time tv writing, of course it's going to be dumb. Nearly all prime time shows are dumbed down because producers don't have any respect for the audience.

Very true. The one thing that bothers me, is the fact that they have a time machine to solve all their problems. It's not like other shows that are more complex and draw you in because of great storytelling.

Really all of their problems will be solved if they just go back far enough in time and stop Rittenhouse ever being born. That's it. That's all they have to do. Simple. They make it such a big deal that the kid got away, when really the simple solution is to go back a day earlier, or 50 years earlier. Hell, why not just wipe out the whole family with the very first Rittenhouse? The fact that the solution is that simple, and the whole show is based around this whole Rittenhouse thing...it's just a bit absurd.

And of course that will never happen until the very last episode. They have a really simple solution to all of their problems, but of course they can't do it because otherwise there would be no show. That's where their problem lies, and it's likely why so many people stopped watching, or just never started watching this show. The premise is too dumb and simple, when the very thing that makes this show entertaining - the time machine aspect - is also what kills it.
