Out of Time

Canceled...

reply

No big surprise there. It was a silly show.

It was a good show,exciting,fast-paced, and never boring. Would be cool if it got picked up by Syfy or something. A real shame because it had a lot going for it---a strong cast, good stories, and watching history lessons being told in a very entertaining way. Here's a whole slew of other shows that got canceled along with it, unfortunately:

No it was usually not boring, just silly. And it kept getting sillier and sillier. No big loss.

What, in your opinion, was silly about it?

I've never seen the show, hadn't heard of it until it just showing up on trending, and I like time-related things, so clicked in.

It sounds interesting. I'm not a fan of mainstream network shows and don't pay attention to them, but maybe this one's worth watching. For me. I'm still interested in your opinion in why you think it's silly.

reply

I'm confused. This was a while back. Which TV show are we discussing?

😎

reply

Timeless. Today Dazed posted she didn't like it either, but didn't say why.

reply

Oh yes, thanks. I thought it was that, but I couldn't remember the title.

OK, to its silliness. They just had situation after situation which simply could not happen in the real world.
They did impossible things, and other characters did really stupid nonsensical things. And it happened over and over again until I just got tired of it.

It was sort of interesting to watch history told in a different way, but in the end it was just way too silly.

"I AM the FBI."

reply

Hmm, Dazed just posted something similar, saying they kept piling up the mysteries, without any resolution.

Bummer. I love time travel and I love history, but think I'd lose interest in it too quickly.

Thanks for answering.

reply

Dazed is correct. They did that too, which was sort of irritating. It was an interesting effort, but it failed.

"That bad, huh?"

reply

I've seen quite a few of those, and loved them! Safety Not Guaranteed was a very quirky pleasant surprise.

I'd have never guessed Run Lola Run and Donnie Darko were time travel movies. Thanks for your list! I'm going to see which of the ones I haven't seen yet are on Netflix.

reply

You're welcome. Glad to help a fellow film fan.

Run Lola Run is a different kind of time travel story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And Donnie Darko is definitely about time travel, different time lines, etc. It's been described as "a good movie masquerading behind a ridiculous title."

Have you seen these two? They're two of the best.

"Fruitcake anyone?"

reply

Dammit, the only one Netflix has is Mr Nobody.

Found a few others, none of which I've seen or heard of: Synchronisity, Paradox, and Continuum.

Have you seen any of them?

reply

I have not seen any of those. On IMDB they received:
Synchronicity - 5.5
Paradox - 4.6
Continuum - 7.7 This one is a TV Series 2012 - 2015.

Another really good movie is Coherence (7.2 on IMDB). It's about changing time lines when a comet passes over a group of people at a dinner party. I really enjoyed this one.

"He's dead."

reply

Well, I'll see what I think of them. Often enough I don't agree with IMDb ratings.

Just wrote down Coherence to check Netflix for it. Sounds good.

I'd have to *really* want to see a film to pay Amazon to watch it. So far, that hasn't happened.

reply

I sometimes watch a film in spite of the IMDB ratings, but they're a useful tool.
Coherence is really good, but it's complicated. You have to pay really close attention.

😎

"Damn good coffee!"

reply

Coherence sounds very promising. I LOVE films and shows where you have to pay close attention.

reply

It is very good.

reply

Oh, and some movie called Listening, which I decided to give a try first. So far, so good.

reply

Listening: 5.6 on IMDB.

"I AM the FBI."

PS Have you considered watching them on your computer on Amazon Instant Video? You can usually watch a film for $3.99.

Timeless isn't cancelled.

It isn't? Funny, I thought it was.

It was, but it isn't. :)
