"You killed General Cornwallis!!"

I loved it when Lucy wailed "You killed Cornwallis! In 20 years he'll negotiate peace with Napoleon!"

Flynn's reply was great.

"So what?! They'll send someone else.
You've seen one Redcoat, you've seen them all."

reply

Cornwallis, had he been allowed a field command early on rather than at the end of the war, could have ended American chances for independence.

No blah, blah, blah!

reply

Not really. As Franklin pointed out, Britain was too far away and its costs too high.

Wow, for a show that has a gay and lesbian couple, an inter racial couple now, and routinely shows racism and sexism In every issue, you think they would be more tolerant. Replace "red coat" with any minority and liberals on here would go nuts. This is the most blatant and pure form of RedCoatism I have seen on TV. Many of my Loyalist friends were highly offended by NBC's lack of respect for the red coat. What's next, a call for open regicide? NBC is has such a double standard when it come to "Isms".. if it's against a group that isn't one of their pet projects, they just let it go and promote it. Well today, I am proudly wearing my Red Coat and drinking Beefeater, while watching some Royals on rerun. Flynn needs to issue a public apology as does NBC.

I was surprised that he was dead, especially as he was only shot in the shoulder and movies/shows typically treat a shoulder wound as a mild inconvenience at worst.

Consider the lack of good medical care, probably most of the civil war casulties were from infection and lack of abtibiotics.

Yes, but he died instantly, from a shoulder wound. While a shoulder wound will probably be life-threatening in real life (there's a major artery in the shoulder), in shows and movies, it's usually not much more serious than a paper cut.

I think its safe to say, that the 21st Century is perhaps going to be entirely different when they return, which should be interesting.

That's only true for main or recurring cast members. In almost every other instance it ends up as "one shot = instant death."

A main cast member shows up a few scenes later with an arm-sling. The extra shot in the arm or leg is dead before they hit the floor.

No, not the mind probe!
