I've been living in Chicago since may 2007. I'd take the el on a daily basis. There wasn't a day that went by during those first few months that I didn't see someone either reading devil in the white city or have it in their bag. It seemed like it was required reading from rneveryone in town that first year of living here.

I read the book myself. The cover is one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. It makes me want to have been able to see what the white city looked like during the World Exposition. Sadly, the only building from that event that is still standing is the museum of science and industry. The other buildings were made to be taken down only a few months after they went up.

There's a movie coming out under the same title with Leonardo Dicaprio.

Apparently not a series.

The book was very good, though I don't care for the switch between two storylines technique.

I read it a while ago, and watching this week's episode makes me want to read it again. Excellent book!

There is a great documentary on Netflix called H.H. Holmes: America's First SerialKiller. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0358500/?ref_=nv_sr_1. It is bone chilling.

I thought the book was meh. I love the H. H. Holmes' parts but did not care much for the story about the World's Fair. It seemed to drag. But as soon as they walked into the World's Fair Hotel... the book came back to me.
