Even Sports Illustrated laughed at this show

And they're huge SJW's these days.

If you don't watch baseball, you might be fooled, but I won't watch this crap.

reply

This would actually make baseball worth watching.

reply

Sports Illustrated, the epitome of middlebrow.

reply

Why is this crap just because she's a girl. A league of there own is one of my favorite sports movies ever and its based on girls and a true story. And I grew up watching all sports and sports movies with my dad who also loves that movie and will call to tell me when it's on tv.

Now I can admit if they take this show in the direction of so many other shows on TV. Like having love triangle or having her date a teammate it could mess up the show but as is so far there is nothing wrong with the show

The moment that the pitcher she replaced said why do I have a feeling you tapped that or something along those lines. I was like please dont ruined the show with a love triangle or having her date a teammate. Love triangles in tv shows are so corny and unoriginal.

the difference between this and "A League of Their Own", which btw really is an awesome movie, this show has a HEAVY SJW agenda in it and it will fail in any demographic!

ALOTO, had a stellar cast, and was purely about telling a story, not about how evil men are.......

reply

The same Sports Illustrated that prances half naked women on their covers, sometimes naked with only hand bras or paint covering these ladies up. What a joke. It was a great pilot, simple as that.

reply

What did Sports Illustrated say?

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

It was kind of technical baseball stuff, but they insinuated a female could never pitch 87 with a certain pitch in the major leagues, but that it would be another pitch, and even that would be a stretch.

But they had no respect for the show whatsoever.

reply

They are absolutely correct, and her fast ball tops out at 87. She throws a lot of junk that batters will soon figure out. Not to be sexist, but women do not have the physical ability to pitch in the majors against men. Just like they will never be Navy SEALs (GI Jane).

I really want to read a tell-all book about the Obama administration. I voted for the guy in 2008, I believe, but man, he really revealed himself to be a bit of a hardcore leftist. School districts all over the country have complained that Obama's school lunch rules are starving kids. They wouldn't budge. He then demanded women be included into Ranger training, combat jobs and submarines. WTF???

What this guy says, and what he actually does is incredibly interesting, that's all I have to say. He reminds me of a lot of the nuttier libs I knew in college. It's kind of sad.

I really wanted to like this show. I'm a big fan of baseball and there are plenty of movies about the sport, but not many TV shows, and none that were even noteworthy.

I could barely make it through the first episode. I expected it to start with a game in the minors where she struck out a bunch of guys or maybe even threw a no hitter. Something, anything to establish her credibility as a player. Instead, it starts with her already on her way to the majors and comparing her to Jackie Robinson despite not earning a shred of credibility yet. I wanted them to show me why she belonged there in the first place.

And then she throws a few bad pitches (okay, really bad), yet after 3 batters she wants out of the game. Seriously? No player worth a damn wants to bail after a bad inning. I don't want to hear it was setting up her redemption later on or any of that. This was clearly written by someone who doesn't know the sport of the mentality of a ball player. Even the worst pitcher in the world still wants to be on the field thinking they're going to pitch themselves out of a bad situation. The fact that she quit after 10 pitches told me I shouldn't give a damn about her. This is where the comparison to Jackie Robinson fails. Jackie Robinson didn't quit after a bad inning. He powered through.

The show also missed the baseball analysis. They could have added to her character that one of the ways she evolved as a player to compensate for not having a 100 mph fastball was a better understanding of the players and their tendencies. I'd have loved to see her shut down the catcher's signals and in between innings they argue about it and she goes on about how so and so never swings at a high fastball on a 1-2 count or something. She's a "Kardashian with talent" but they didn't really bother focusing on what that talent is.

I agree with a lot of what you said... The issue is this has never been done before (a female baseball player) Not even at a minor league level because of that it is soooo wildly unrealistic they failed to make/write a believable show.

reply

It doesn't matter if it's realistic or not. Whether this could happen in real life doesn't matter, at least to me. Because they could still come up with something good. They can still create a character people are interested in and want to root for. They haven't done that. They didn't even give us a baseball player. Forget the unrealistic nature of the show. This is why I lost interest.
