3 stars? Really? It took me two hours to watch this because I had to keep pausing and rewinding because of all the little detais packed into this film. It was funny and visually impressive. With a title like Death Race 2050 I was expecting it to be really bad. Although it was different from the others I think it is better than all except the first one. But then the target of the satire in this franchise has always been it's own audience.
Yeah this was basically a remake of the original, so when people are making fun of the plot or something it makes me laugh. This isn't as good as DR2000 or anything, and the green screen/CGI definitely hurt things. But this is actually better than any of the awful sequels, and the low score makes me wonder if everyone got it. Of course I'm sure many people did, and just didn't enjoy it. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people didn't though.
It reminded me of idiocracy in a way. Not to compare the two since one is much better than the other, but the idea of some people not even realizing they're being mocked while watching it can be seen in both.
Same here. I loved the original (saw it when I was a kid and it aired on HBO), but this, while it was clearly inspired by the original, felt like a cheap remake. The thing is, the original was a low budget film back in the 70's so this should have felt like it was higher quality.
I give them credit for at least trying to remake it properly unlike the Statthm film with the same name and that was it.
It was a great movie. Those who didnt understand take *beep* too seriously. It was over the top..wsy over the top. A movie like this is good from time to time
