There's a bloody laugh track! I adore Joel Mchale, but this is bad. Hopefully it gets canceled before anyone sees it.

I personally don't believe that a laugh track makes a show bad. I think the real problem is that today's writers don't really know how to write for the format. I would love to see the laugh track sitcom make a come back with some good and funny writing. (I'm not sure this will necessarily be the show to do it though, but we'll see.)

A laugh track isn't a bad thing in itself. I'm hoping it's just the way that was edited together, but that didn't look good though. I'm with you on Joel McHale, I love Community and I'm also a big Stephen Fry fan from way back. Seeing them together was something I didn't know I wanted. I really hope it's just a bad trailer and the show comes together much better and seems more natural.

Perhaps it isn't a "laugh track," but rather a live studio audience...which I am all in favor of. I largely dislike single-cam, no laughter sitcoms. They come off more as quirky dramas than actual sitcoms and usually aren't funny.

Same difference. Both are edited and enhanced. Not sure why this argument is made so often. Why does it change if it's recorded or on file? Silly argument if you ask me.

To each his own. I loath hearing laughter. It's simply not needed, I do not need to be told it's funny. We were conditioned to it decades ago but once they stopped using it, it was clear how bad it was.

Would you want to hear an audience gasp in suspense for a crime show? Or cry at a sad moment in a drama? No, it's silly. Whoever came up with the concept back in the 50s, or whenever it was invented, is a tool

I could just not imagine shows like Arrested Development or Community with a laugh track... Cringe to even think about it.

Well, it's not really something that was invented in the 50s. It's something that was invented centuries ago and still continues today. People have performed on stage in plays for theater for a long time ad people react to what happens. So when something is funny, people laugh. I guess you would have a very hard time in public situations like that or in a movie theater.

Infantile response. I was being polite, anyone that likes laugh tracks is a simpleton! And I do not mean that as an insult, I mean they are very very simple and unintelligent.

All the CBS sitcoms have laugh tracks. Its sad really.

Life In Pieces doesn't.

Anyway, I never really understood the laugh track hate.

I was going to post the same thing. I like life in pieces especially since it doesn't have a laugh track.
