Lifetime or Spice Channel? =O

I am FAR from a prude, but this is eyebrow raising in my opinion! I am at the 40 minute mark and with all of the young girl on girl, gyrating, rithing, finger-in-the-mouth, porn-style sexual implied situations, I am frankly shocked! These are the things you would see on the late night Skin-a-Max movies, not Lifetime! Very disappointing! =( 👎

This movie was much less sexual than the majority of current T.V. shows. The movie mostly just showed making out with clothes on. In movies and in standard network shows (networks like FreeForm and CW), you see the back and faces, and the movement and moaning that goes with it. On premium (networks like HBO and Starz) and streaming (networks like Netflix and Amazon Prime) shows, there is quite a bit full-frontal nudity. All of this mostly just applies to GirlxGuy sex. GirlxGirl and GuyxGuy intimacy often doesn't even involve kissing, because LGBT+ representation on T.V. is unequal and there isn't too much of it in the first place (especially on channels like Lifetime, where almost everyone is a cis heterosexual white Christian with a large income).

Which TV shows are you referencing? For sure there are sexual situations shown on television, but the extent that they took it is what I am speaking of. Specifically the scene where the main character is auditioning for the play. The other girl is writhing all over her, humping her, sticking her finger in her mouth...these are all things you would see in a porn (soft or hardcore, I was saying soft-core [Skin-a-Max] for the benefit of the doubt oviously as to not go over the top here). So what shows are you referencing that make this movie:

much less sexual than the majority of current T.V. shows

Sorry you misunderstood me, I was just referring to the shows on cable. Also, ONLY to the ones involving such young kids (ie not Bitten, Lucifer, etc. that centers around adults). I recognize most of the titles you listed, though I have only personally seen a few. I do realize several of them are teen shows, many of the CW and MTV ones I recognize anyhow. Obviously I cannot attest for the content being as graphic as this, but I am willing to imagine in this day and age there is definitely sexual content shown. I was just shocked at the LEVEL of sexual content or perhaps to say the "moves" they used? when showcasing the sex in this movie with young adults that would be something on par with a soft-core premium channel show/movie.

The characters in the movie aren't young kids. They're in college.

reply

Ok, well this is obviously where we have a stalemate. I don't know if you are a parent, but if you can imagine your 18 year old (because that is still a kid to me, regardless if they attend college) daughter behaving in that manner and be OK with it, then you are more in tune with the way society has morally decayed in my opinion. But, you, in turn, are also free to think I am an old -fashioned dinosaur or whatnot for thinking that's not acceptable. That's the joy of being able to share both of our opinions on the board! =)

Just curious, if you're offended by seeing lesbians portrayed on screen then why would you watch a movie about lesbian vampires? I'm not trying to start WW3 here but I'm just wondering why you would watch something already knowing that you're offended by the subject matter before the opening credits begin?

reply

lol I am not offended by lesbian vampires. I was talking about the graphic nature of the sexual scenes. The young age of the kids involved - girls or not - in the opening scenes, they are high schoolers, and then the soft-core auditions for the play with the main character and 2 of the vampire girls writhing all over her was inappropriate for Lifetime in my opinion. Nothing to do with lesbians...or vampires. 😉

Did you see that Tori tweeted a photo of her four year old daughter watching the movie? #Fail

reply

Wow, that is really sad! I mean kids keep getting earlier and earlier exposure to inappropriate content, but that is ridiculous! I hope she just limited it to the benign parts to show clips where "Mommy" was on screen? *crossing fingers* =/
