The sex scene

Is it me or the sex scene occurring between Chris and her husband is pretty disturbing? I don't know, but I found it gross and out of place. 

reply

It's established that they have a pretty dysfunctional relationship, so it was in context.

True, but I found it quite unpleasant to see. Sorry, I must be over-sensitive.

Could be.
But then again the sex scene being unpleasant to watch was kinda the point, so...

How can a scene of consensual sexual activity between a couple be disturbing? Does intercourse follow certain aesthetic norms these days or does it have to be as immaculate as shown in for instance ‘Scandal’ or ‘The Good Wife’, of course those are beautiful to watch but again are not so realistic. To consider this a ‘dysfunctional relationship’ just because they are obviously over the ‘butterfly phase’ is a bit judgmental. Please be more open minded and less prude - you don't have to like it, they do (and obviously they did!)

He (maybe) did. She didn't. But as i said above...that was the point.

What was, pardon the pun, hard for me was that it was an intimate letter to another man that made him (finally) want to be with his wife. Seems like they were more maties than partners up to meeting Dick. And I didn't see the mutual attraction that apparently her husband has for Dick as well. It has all the earmarks of being Californication in Texas or wherever the hell it's at.

Maybe swinging is big out west same like in Southern California (or anywhere apparently). Does this show tell us about us? Or is it for low-risk lifestyle voyeurs?
