A great film that should have been a miniseries

Fantastic writing and acting in this film. This is one of Netflix's best project to date.

Political partisans, just forget that this is "the other team" for a moment.

Watch the film from the perspective of someone who enjoys good entertainment. You have a central character who is deeply conflicted about their past and their future. He is flawed as hell and very damaged.

Anyone who has had an "imperfect" parent can immediately relate to this character.

I found some of these scenes incredibly moving, particularly the wedding, where his inability to deal with his issues leaves that poor girl alone.

This is not "propaganda" portraying Obama as perfect. He is very flawed -- confused, naive and making mistakes. I feel sorry for the idiotic Trump supporters who feel compelled to tear this film down. It really delivers.

It also has some interesting themes about the USA -- how the country succeeds by being an amalgam of cultures and races. The reason why the USA wins is that it is an immigrant nation that is confused by its culture -- like Obama is confused about his.
