Question about Miranda

I had never heard of Miranda Sings before it showed up on the top of my Netflix app last night. I quickly finished all 8 episodes and found it entertaining. My only hesitation with the show was that it seemed as if Miranda wasn't just being portrayed as a delusional, self-obsessed wannabe star (as described in several reviews), but rather someone perhaps with an intellectual disability. There were several times were I felt guilty laughing at her, especially if this is the case. I feel like I may be reading too much into this, but does anyone else feel that way? Has it ever been discussed in any of the YT videos?
