Voiceovers ruin the show

It's basically a female Napoleon Dynamite, which I would normally find mildly amusing, but the voice over absolutely ruins the show.

Neither this show nor Napoleon Dynamite used voice overs. Are you sure that's the word you're looking for?

reply

I'm referring to the screenwriting notes that are read aloud. It's awful.

What on earth are you talking about? Are you sure you're not watching the show with some kind of narration setting turned on designed for those who have vision difficulties and need the scenes described? The show has no voice overs of any kind--if you're serious check your settings and make sure that narration is turned off on what ever you're watching it on.

If BELTANEVE has hit on a point then are we being introduced to the OP as having a similar life outlook as the main character.

In the real world ever one of those characters do exist and psychiatry may need to take a real look at how deep some peoples lack of reality actually goes. Indeed is the treatment they and those who counsel causing this behaviour to express itself. Note that the personality [is it even multiple] trait on display here has not a shred of LOW SELF ESTEEM. If anything it is the Sister who is shown as very normal that might show that.

This type of show is going to be uncomfortable as are the shows like OFFICE [UK] not seen US but assume it will be along similar lines. A great deal of British Comedy deals with the aspiration and dreams of the lower type class in wealth and ability. Hancock, Steptoe and then the deluded as in Office, David Brent. Yes there is always the mish mash of the locality playing out. Taxi, On the Buses. Another often used trope is a little lie that has an almost butterfly effect. Everybody Loves Raymond, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

If you think hard and remember just how many of the Auditions for X Factor shows or this nations got talent are [Miranda] types who are of the self belief [again with no hint of lack of self esteem] and must make you wonder 'are you having a laugh' When the Whistle Blows from Gervais shown in series Extras.

It is maybe very wrong to LAUGH at the afflicted but if we are treating sexual preferences as a legitimate serious choice which if laughed at or mocked is a hate crime then [Colleen] should be prosecuted and any who find it funny should be sought out.

Due to the fact that we do have a population that once was kept behind doors now in general circulation they can often drift into small communities. Miranda Sings has a family unit three quarters disturbed or should I say differently challenged with a quarter that might find it difficult to retain her level of normality.

Second series. Who knows but as there are so many out there with Miranda/Jim/Bethany qualities who do not like the feeling the neighbours are laughing at [them] might be scuppered.

But we do love to see the completely deluded like Miranda on those Talent shows. We in the UK did see wannabe talent from Hughie Greens show, Stars in Their Eyes and such like. We never saw the deluded. Now we do.
