Why does Deadpool refer to Cable as being very short?

Deadpool is describing Cable to his crew and says he's 5'11, very short. WTF!

It's no record but it's far from short. It's actually fairly tall. I'm a strong 5'11 and the only time I've been called short is when I've played basketball with guys who are like 6'6+

Deadpool is only 6'2 and that is not tall enough to say someone 5'11 very short lol

Was he just trying to be absolutely ridiculous or something?

5'11" definitely isn't short; it's a little above average with the average being 5'9" in the USA for males:

Lol. Firstly, it’s crystal clear Deadpool jokes about everything and anything. There’s no rhyme or reason to a lot of the things he says, it’s just what he rolls. Secondly, the main reason Deadpool even calls Cable short is because Cable in the comics is a really huge guy: weights over 300 pounds and stands at nearly 7 feet tall! Deadpool himself says that Brolin’s Cable is NOTHING like the comics when it comes to size.

Needles to say, being 5’11 is a far cry from freakish 6’8 (which is Cable’s official height from what I’ve read), so it should be no mystery why Deadpool referred to Brolin’s Cable as “very short”. That said, I also believe Deadpool was “subtlety” poking fun at fans of the comics with that line, cuz you know having someone of Brolin’s stature take on the role of Cable was undoubtedly going to confuse and irritate (to put it mildly) some Cable fans, and Deadpool pretty much acknowledges this.

Anyway, under 6’0 feet Brolin may be but he got jacked and to my eyes looked ideal for Cable. But more importantly, he delivered a very strong performance. Everything about his portrayal felt spot on to me. And oh yes, I can’t wait to see him back in the role.

5'11'' is very short. YOU are very short.

Get over it, half-man.

OP is a manlet lol.

He created this thread from his Hobbit burrow in The Shire.

I'm 5"11 and people tell that I'm tall. I don't know, maybe it's the place where I live.

Munchkin Town?

Lilliput?

Lazytown. We have one tall guy in the whole town and he always does this unnecessary acrobatic stuff.

If you ever tried dating, to majority of women anything bellow 6' is "too short to date".

*to majority of superficial bitches

Here, I corrected it for you.

I'm 5"11 and as far as I remember my height had never been a problem for me when it came to dating. The fact that I don't have much money because I am a student had been an issue, but never my height. Never a woman told me that I'm too short.

I was told that I'm too poor to be dating material. I even had 2 women tell me that the fact I don't own a car was an issue. But never because of my height.

Right now I have a new girlfriend and she thinks that I am tall as a matter of fact.

Like i said, majority of women.

What are they gonna do measure you?

Yes if they think you're lying.

5'11" is basically a midget.

reply

^If that’s the case, then y’all must live in a place that’s surrounded by giants+amazons. 6’5 is probably the average height for women over there (it’s the Netherlands of course). Holy momma!

Deadpool can break the fourth wall. Maybe he's comparing him to his appearance in the Avengers movies.

reply

It's a meta joke. Cable in the comics is like 6'7" or something. He's a giant of a man. And there was lots of nerd outrage on the internet about his casting. Deadpool is poking fun at it and us.

reply

Yea I get it now lol. Brolin's performance was generally well received though

Comic fans often get hung up about height. Most superheroes are 6 feet or more and built like bodybuilders. The vast majority of actors and human beings in general are not that big. Besides, it's not like movies don't make people look bigger than they are. Tom Cruise always looks like the tallest guy in the room in his movies but the dude is 5'4 or something.
