More of a parody than anything else [Spoilers]

I'm an avid comic book ready and familiar with the Deadpool series. With that being said it was a little irritating that they made this movie coincide with what appeared to be the current X-Men universe. How so? Jokingly killing off some of the founding members in the X-Force as soon as they're introduced. I've seen posts suggesting that DP could bring them back using Cable's time traveling device so we'll have to see. Also downplaying the severity of Juggernaut. This wouldn't have the entire X-Men's attention he's on the loose?

I get that this is a comedy. I just have a problem that this takes place in the same universe as the other movies, which play on a serious events and rely a lot on their characters.

I feel they made this movie with one objective in mind and that was to try to outdo the comedy from the first one. I felt they tried a bit too hard at times to make that work but if they were going for a tongue and cheek send-up of the Marvel properties, it's not a total failure either.

Have a short review of this one here if anyone is interested-https://youtu.be/f7GM8LK7Lz8

I haven't read a comic in years, but from what I've heard, there was a lot of wasted potential in those deaths with plenty of fans around to be bothered about it. That's got to suck some lol you're a fan of some semi-obscure comic book hero, go to see them in a new Deadpool movie and then watch as they get killed in some throw away joke right out of the gate. A bit of a nut-shot there lol

Couldn't agree more.

I loved it. The whole thing makes fun of comic books and their movies way more than the 1st. I thought the original tried too hard to be edgy with the humor, and it backfired. This one was much more cohesive and flowed well from beginning to end.

reply

I feel the exact opposite.

Calm down, he fixed the whole x-force killing off thing in the end when he went back in time and they will play a bigger part in deadpool 3 and in the movie x-force, they will be back and get more love for sure.

reply

He only save Peter as shown. No reason to save the rest when they fail so hard at parachuting lol

Now that Disney has bought Fox and gotten X-Men and Fantastic Four back, I'm not expecting a sequel anymore. But I'm not exactly disappointed and now thinking of it, Deadpool doesn't have to be rated R. I hope Marvel gives us a better Rogue and does things we haven't seen before. Like Mr. Sinister, Mojovision and the Wendigo Beast.

reply

Speaking of Sinister, did you notice the orphanage was called "The Essex Home for Mutant Rehabilitation"? 😉

reply

No I didn't. It is a shame cause the mid credit scene of Apocalypse had that scene with the case that says Essex Industries on it. And instead we are getting the Phoenix again. Sigh.

reply

Sounds like the first 'Deadpool' was so successful, if fell victim to tighter controls from the studios for its sequel to cash in.

I both loved and hated this movie, which was both better and worse than the first one. But my chief gripe by far is they slewed way too far into parody territory. Even the soundtrack was in on the joke.

reply

Only one of those were original X-Force members, and the X-Force movie they want to make doesn't deal with that original lineup anyway.
