How old are they supposed to be?

From Chantal's flyer, it showed her birth year as 1986.

reply

Yeah, 30 sounds about right (maybe 28 or so for Drew), although I think that the blonde girl is not aging well.

reply

Isn't that a bit old to be an unpaid intern?

And what does the gay guy do exactly?

reply

We don't know that he was unpaid, actually, but yes, it's too old regardless, just like Dory is too old to only work part-time as some rich lady's personal assistant. And yet they have a nice apartment and don't appear to have any money problems, which is entirely unrealistic with their income in NYC.

Which leads me to believe they are all still being supported by their parents.

The blond guy I think was an assistant to Patricia Arquette because I don't know why else he would mention her, and he said to someone at the party in the first episode that he works for someone famous. But considering what an apartment he and Portia lived in (and Portia worked only sporadically at best) - yeah, parents.

reply

Elliott does say that everything is paid by his parents, even his cell phone bill. So I doubt he has an actual steady job.

And when Drew was almost fired his boss asked him "is this what I am paying you for" and Drew answered something like "actually you are not paying me at all".

reply

Right, I forgot about that.

How does that change anything I said, though?

reply

He's in graduate school. Graduate students often have internships.

Um, did you not notice their "furniture"? Like, lawn chairs with throw rugs over them, and cast-off elementary school stools. lol
They're not exactly living in the lap of luxury.
(I remember those days from my own years living in NYC.)

reply

They live in an area where a one-bedroom can easily be around $2000 a month (if not more). The furniture is of secondary significance.

I mean, I am a working professional, and I cannot afford that kind of rent.
