Pretty disappointing.

Feels like a cheesy Disney show. I love The Lonely Island but this was really lame.

I was pretty underwhelmed by the level of comedy. They had a couple of good ideas there, with the vocal fry being annoying and the suffragette who wasn't going to vote, but the writing was just subpar, and in the end they weren't really very funny sketches. I hated the stage routines with the three women together.

reply

I completely agree. The stage routines were cringeworthy and some of the sketches had potential but they ended up going in a dumb direction

reply

That was 20-odd minutes I'll never get back...

reply

Agreed. Maybe they should have tried having a theme for each episode or something. I don't know. I wanted to like it but I just didn't laugh at anything. And there were way too many scenes with them on stage.

OP had it right, it's like a Disney show with a few "dirty" jokes.

reply

There is a theme: SJW comedy. That's why you, along with anybody else who watches this show, aren't laughing.

reply

Yeah, I definitely got that vibe; from the suffrage skit to the one about "manspainling" - could have overlooked it, if this show was remotely funny.

reply

What the heck is SJW?

reply

Social Justice Warrior; the show has politically correct, inoffensive humour.

reply

Oh, I believe I may have read that on a comment thread somewhere. I must say offensiveness is relative. I find it offensive to call this humor for example. ?

"SNL has one or two good moments per show, but Party Over Here doesn’t even have that,” says Brian Moylan of The Lonely Island-produced female sketch comedy show. "It’s like they didn’t quite know how to execute their great ideas.” PLUS: It's fun, funny, relatable, and everything felt forced and contrived.

There was maybe once that I smirked. Other than that this was very cringworthy

reply

I think I smiled once. Don't remember when because it was that memorable. And I gave this a major chance at four episodes! To quote a real funny lady genius Blarg!

reply

I can't believe this piece of junk ever got the green light. The producers must have been doing some bad acid.

I don't even understand why The Lonely Island are even involved with this, it's pretty lame...

I'm a man of few words. Thank you.
