My problem with Colleen (spoilers)

Overall, I liked this movie, but my biggest problem was with the titular maid Colleen. At the beginning, she appeared to be a fairly sympathetic character, but toward the end, she transformed into an unlikable psycho. The movie appears to be trying to make Colleen sympathetic, but her actions make it impossible to feel sorry for her considering Laura played no role in her son's suicide.

For me, the last straw came in when she attacked Matthew, who much like Laura, was nothing but nice to her son. It just cemented the fact that she was nothing but a delusional nutcase.

Her bringing the dog on "a walk" is what started to do it for me. :(

You should have known early on, when she was ranting, "I hate her, I hate her, I hater her". You knew she had to be talking about the main character, and it was going to be another formulaic Lifetime revenge movie.

reply

This is such a formula movie-according to Lifetime, everyone who loses a child becomes a homicidal maniac.

I've said it more than once on this forum that whenever there's a dog in a Lifetime drama, you can bet the bad person will kill it or, in this case, let it out. The minute you see a dog, you know what will happen.

Please, Lifetime stop doing that!!!

reply

I know! At least this dog didn't die, but still, I hate how the innocent family pet always has to bite it. :(

reply

This exactly why I turned this movie off and switched to something else. I do not like movies where animals can be injured or killed !!!!!!!!

reply

There was a nice reunion scene with the dog. Perhaps Lifetime are learning that actually killing off pets is unpopular with a lot of their viewers.

reply

I agree, I'm so mad when there's an animal in a movie and eventually they wind up being killed.

There is a tell-tale short scene in the movie that establishes the maid's real intentions. Also the alternative title 'A Housekeeper's Revenge' is a dead giveaway.
