This seems to me to be a reworking of the American TV series, 'Star Crossed'.

That was my first thought too. 15 minutes in, and while the basic premise is there (aliens, appearance, walled off area), that's where the similarities end.

Very similar indeed. But hopefully it'll turn out to be something completely different.

When I read the IMDB blurb for this show, I was reminded of Alien Nation (the movie and the tv series).
